Navigraph Updates SimBrief with Thunderstorm Avoidance and New Route Engine

FlightSimDailyJanuary 28, 20265 min read

Navigraph has issued a substantial update to SimBrief, the community's go-to flight planning tool. The update adds an advanced thunderstorm avoidance system, a new route calculation engine and several quality-of-life improvements.

What changed

The new route engine uses more powerful algorithms that can calculate optimal routes in seconds rather than the previous longer wait times. It now factors in thunderstorm cells and severe weather, automatically routing around dangerous areas. Real-life dispatchers have noted that SimBrief's planning capabilities now rival some professional tools.

SimBrief is tightly integrated with MSFS 2024 through the world map and toolbar, and works seamlessly with aircraft from PMDG, Fenix, FlyByWire and others. The update is available to all Navigraph subscribers.
