X-Plane 12.4.1 Released: A330 Improvements, Weather Radar and Performance Boost

FlightSimDailyMarch 11, 20265 min read

Laminar Research has released X-Plane 12.4.1, a focused update that builds on the comprehensive C-Check release. The highlights include further refinements to the Airbus A330-300, a weather radar overlay for the X1000 GPS, improved real-world weather simulation, and genuine CPU performance gains.

A330 system refinements

The A330 gets a fully functional Ram Air Turbine (RAT) that deploys visibly on the exterior model. TCAS has been significantly improved with new aural warnings. The Flight Control Unit now correctly respects preselected vertical speed when engaging V/S mode, and ALT CRZ engages properly after level-off.

Smaller fixes address a quirky issue where continuous ignition could gradually depressurize the cabin, navigation display improvements for better route clarity, and corrected ZULU time on the DATE/SET page. Laminar also added a special livery featuring the names of everyone who contributed to the A330 project.

Weather radar and performance

The X1000 GPS now supports a weather radar overlay, giving GA pilots better situational awareness. Real-world weather simulation has been tweaked for more accurate conditions, and developer Sidney managed to squeeze out additional CPU performance gains across the board.
